Environmental Portraiture

Environmental Portraits are not just photographs of a person and rather more about them, telling a story of the subject through the environment they are photographed in. Whether taken in the subject's home, workplace, or other location that they feel is important to them and which exemplifies their life, personality, or character. In essence, they are unique to each subject.

The fee includes my travel to your preferred location as long as it is within my current area. If additional travel is required, this will be discussed at the time of enquiry.

What to expect before the shoot

The first thing is to establish, even if only briefly, some kind of personal connection. I need to get to know you a little, learn something about who you are and what motivates you. Expect that we’ll meet and chat over coffee or tea, and just talk - no camera in sight.

Once I have a sense of the person - the who and what you are (or at least my interpretation thereof) - then we can look at what locations are going to best exemplify this. We’ll also consider how you want to be photographed, your wardrobe, whether you will also want or need styling or a make-up assistant.

What to expect during the shoot

Largely, the goal of the shoot is to produce one iconic shot. That’s it. One!

We may certainly get more, but quality over quantity is what we are striving for. How long will this take? Well that will depend on how many locations or wardrobe changes we are planning for. If just the base one look/one location shoot, probably no more than one hour onsite - and that will include equipment set-up time.
